This is another iconic image perused by artist throughout history. Originally most art was religious driven, but it's not this aspect that attracts me it's the fact it's aperson with bird wings which looks so natural as we have lived with these images for so long. What would our imagination come up with for a celestial being today.

Man has had a fascination with the human skull whether in art or medicine. With its prominence in fashion and such works as Damien Hirst's diamond encrusted pieces, I find myself bombard with this image from all directions, so have embraced it as another traditional subject for artists to play with.

This series of work came after a conversation with a fellow artist centered around deserving to achieve your own success through the things you enjoy doing. we all battle our inner demons each day and as some of my work is getting more personal I wanted the idea of learning to appreciate and love the person you are. Part of the reason I now work as an artist is to aspire to be better, to be the best I can be. Instead of maybe what I am second best at. after lots of thought and experiments, it manifested itself as a golden being pealing back a layer of ceramic skin. Ceramics are often viewed as a poor relation in the art world so it's been the perfect way to reflect this concept which also makes a statement about the material itself.
